Hi everyone! My experience with babysitting children started when I was 12 years old, not including my baby brother who was born when I was five! I was a "Mother's Helper" to my neighbor and her infant daughter, and as I grew older I proceeded to babysit every weekend a variety of children belonging to families who lived on my street. I continued babysitting in my neighborhood until I went to college. My junior year of college I was a nanny for the most precious 4-year-old boy, and would accompany the family on vacations as well. I also volunteered many times at my church for childcare and worked in "Kid's Community" with 1st-5th graders. I literally have worked with children for over 13 years! I love feeling loved by them and I in turn love to teach them they are spectacular persons who have a lot to offer this world! My goal is to have that connection with each child so they know that I am trustworthy and a safe place. I will always encourage and build up their self esteem by pointing out their natural gifts (artistic, athletic, sensitive to others, a team player) and working on excelling those instead of comparing themselves to others' gifts. I speak truthfully, but with kindness. I never yell or use anger towards a child, and negativity has no place as far as I'm concerned! I am not afraid to correct a child, but again I do it in kindness, not anger. I try to always be upbeat, positive, and realistic. My favorite thing to do when babysitting is probably cooking dinner for them and sitting down and eating together, and then curling up to read a good book, draw, or watch a movie before they go to bed. That is so fun to me and refreshing! My mother always taught me that when I enter someone's home to leave it better than I left it. So, light cleaning was always expected on my end, whether the parents had preference or not. Who doesn't like a clean, fresh house? It's respectful and helpful! Anyways, I hope you will consider me because I really am a very genuine, trustworthy, fun person who enjoys children!
