I have always loved working with children, which began with volunteering with an organization involving civil rights. While working there, I gained experience working with handicapped children ages 2-9. I assisted the children with activities they were asked to complete while on horseback. One of my most important childcare experiences was working a YMCA for three summers. During my time at the YMCA summer camp, I worked with about 20 children ages 2-4. While attending to the children's needs I also planned daily crafts, outdoor activities, and educational experiences. On several occasions, after summer camp was over for the day, I would work in the YMCA's child watch. Working in child watch gave me experience caring for and engaging with children of all ages. I have also babysat for different families sporadically since middle school. I have a degree from Appalachian State in psychology and during my studies took classes dealing with child psychology and child development. I am newly married and plan to stay in the Boone area and would love to find a nanny job with regular hours!
