Hello, my name is Ashley and I am eager to express my strong interest in a nanny/sitter position with your family. I just completed my last semester at Teachers College Columbia University where I received a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction for Elementary Education. I also conducted action research where I worked to improve reading comprehension of fifth grade students. I obtained my Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, as well as my Alabama State Teaching Certification in both Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. With over four years of classroom and childcare exposure and experience, coupled with my drive to provide all children with an equal opportunity to learn, I am certain that my abilities would be a valuable asset to your family.
My resume illustrates my teaching and other childcare related experience as well as special training that have both equipped me with the tools that I need to empower, educate, and engage a vast array of children and their needs. I have been exposed to and participated in a variety of creative learning venues that have aided in my ability and passion for the arts including visual art, music, movement and technology. Also my experiences as a camp counselor and coach show my love of sports and the outdoors. I feel compelled to work with and educate children in a way that "speaks" to their learning style, interests and general needs with an ultimate goal of helping children to become confident, independent and successful. Throughout the course of my personal and professional life, I have had the great pleasure of working with a diverse group of children, including students with physical/health impairments, those with learning disabilities, gifted/exceptional children, and children of various socioeconomic backgrounds. As a result, I have become skilled in creating interactive and stimulating environments for both learning and play, which accommodate the multiple intelligences of all children.
My greatest strengths would include my ability to build a positive rapport with children which I use to ultimately inspire and motivate them to learn. In addition, I believe in creating experiences that create lifelong learning and enjoyment for children. I am always looking for new ideas to make learning and life fun and meaningful. I also believe my ability to communicate and collaborate helps me create dynamic relationships with children and parents.
