Since I am a musician by profession, I tend to have part-time jobs during the summer between semesters at school. Since I really like young people (I am a cello teacher), these have typically been in childcare of some sort-whether being a nanny, or being a counselor at a music camp.

In winter-spring of 2009, I was a part-time nanny for two families, one with three boys ages 2, 3 and 5, and the other with one boy, age 4. In 2011, I was a nanny for my friend's 7-month-old boy for a week while he was in between nannies. Most recently, I have been a part-time sighted guide and babysitter for an 11-year-old girl with visual impairment and her brother.

During the summer of 2006, I was a summer music camp counselor for students ages 11-17. For two years in a row, I was an RA at a music festival on a hall of high school students during the summers of 2007 and 2008.

For the past three years I have served as a TA, teaching music theory to freshmen at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, while I finished my master's degrees in cello performance and music theory there. I really built a passion for teaching during that time, and knew that I wanted to teach cello for a living! I have taught cello to students between ages 8-adult, and think nannying and teaching really complement each other well.

I love spending time with all ages of children! It is so fun to learn every person's individuality. It's amazing to see how a child matures and to be able to be an impact on that growth. Originally from North Carolina, I love being able to play outside during the summer! I enjoy being creative with my time, going on walks, going to the library and doing crafts.
