I began as a nanny two and a half years ago as a change from the corporate world. Last fall, I started with a new family with two boys when they were 1 year and 5 1/2. The littlest one, now 2, is my main priority and I look after the older one after school for a short period until one of the parents comes home. I work part-time Wednesdays and pick up the 2-year-old from preschool and full days Thursdays and Fridays. I am completely open Mondays and Tuesdays and mornings of Wednesdays.
This is the second family I've been with long-term and is also the second family with only boys. I'd love to add some girl energy to my week.
We do lots of fun things pretty regularly. The toddler gym, gymnastics in Columbia City, the aquarium, zoo, parks, wading pools and swim lessons, the library, etc. We've even gone to a daytime kids oriented symphony. I have a safe driving record and a 2007 model Mazda so it's very safe. I do some light housework during the little one's naps - tidy up the kitchen, playroom, folding laundry, etc. But the focus has been to play with the kids, help them learn the basics, make sure they are safe, well-rested and well-fed, and generally happy. We sing songs, play games inside and out that we make up, read a lot and there's a lot of giggling. I'm very familiar with Legos, trains, planes, trucks since my kids have mostly been boys. I love watching the changes as the children grow and finding the connections to them in what they discover and learn. My heart seriously melts when they're sad to see me go or tell me they love me.
Most of my experience has been with children a year plus - but I've grown up in a big family and I know my way around babies. Each one is a little different depending on the age and needs obviously, but I learn fast. I have plenty of friends with children too in varying ages from newborn to 13 years old and now I'm a real auntie since my brother and sister-in-law just had their first child in October. I have a background in theater so I'm energetic, outgoing, creative and spontaneous. I'm used to building forts out of blankets and laundry baskets, snuggling and reading favorite books and dancing to what the kids call 'party music', which is really anything lively.
I live in Fremont and I would ideally love something nearby, but I am not opposed to other areas within Seattle. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
