I have raised twin boys and a daughter. They are all now in college. I am a caring, energetic, compassionate person who enjoys being with children and the activities associated with them. I watch my sister's child who has autism and is non-verbal. He requires using his sensory skills and enjoys physical activity. I will give you a picture of his typical day. He normally wakes up at 7:00 a.m. He starts his day by taking care of his bathroom activities. Then, it's breakfast time. We access the computer for his menu. He enjoys puzzles, so we have activity time, normally putting together puzzles. He likes roller skating so we then do an activity outside. After lunch, he may watch a Disney video. Then we have another activity. We make homemade play dough, GAK, or cookies using cookie cutters. Then we work on speech therapy using stickers of the alphabet. I will meet the demands of the day (dishes, cooking, etc.), but I know that I need to be flexible because the children comes first.
