Ana worked for us for a few months. We were very impressed with her reference that was posted on Care.com. During her employ she was consistently late. In her first few weeks there was no limit to what she would do and how hard she would work. She took initiative & always expressed her gratitude at having been given the opportunity to work. She requested extra hours and money within the first two weeks, however when presented opportunities to help with babysitting she was consumed with talking on her cell phone. Her interaction with my children was not what we were looking for. We like our children to have rules and boundaries both for their safety and with the hope of creating well-mannered and respectful people. In spite of hiring a behavior therapist to work with Ana to train her, she refused to place any restrictions on the children. When I spoke with her the response was that she felt that since it was the children's home, they were free to do as they pleased. We reduced her duties and hours to housekeeping but her zest quickly faltered. When left to clean the house while we were out of town we returned to dirty floors, dust everywhere and absolutely no evidence of any cleaning. When I asked what she had done, she couldn't express any work but instead spoke about how upset she was to work while her son was at home. I would recommend her as a housekeeper for a household that is well supervised. She does possess the ability to work hard but if punctuality is critical you should continue your search.
