When I was in high school, I was a sitter for a 2- and a 4-year-old. Their father had unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack. I was there for the widow every weekend. It was a wonderful gift being able to be a special person in the children's lives. Through games, such as role play, I was able to help the children deal with their anger and better understand how to manage their thoughts in a positive manner. My second experience caring for children was also very fulfilling; I worked at a local day care. It is regretful to say that the establishment was not up to my standards of what child care should be, and that is why I am no longer with that company. I was the teacher in the 3 to 4-year-old classroom. We had a structured day filled with opportunities to learn as well as have fun.
