Hello! My name is Amy and I've dedicated my life to working with children. I'm new to Seattle, living in the Queen Anne area with my sister, and loving life here, coffee shops, nature, Sounders games, delicious food, what's not to love? I recently graduated with my Masters in Social Work from the University of Southern California, with a focus on children and families. I also have a BA in psychology from New York University, with a focus in child development. I now work at an adoption agency as an international adoption specialist. I've been babysitting for nearly 15 years now, for children from birth through pre-adolescence. I also have experience as an overnight camp counselor, teaching at an international preschool, and volunteering in Indian and Guatemalan orphanages. I've maintained relationships with families over the long term, even if I've moved away. One of the first girls I babysat for is now graduating college, where does the time go? :-) I have extensive education in child development, and come from an attachment, focused perspective. I believe that all children deserve to grow in the context of caring relationships. My philosophy is that there needs to be a balance of nurturing and structure In this context, children feel free to express themselves while knowing they are safe and taken care of. I am a dynamic, fun caregiver. I love to jump right in and play! You'll find me engrossed in Lego-building, walking like a deer (yes this has happened!) or searching for the best hide-and-seek spot. I think kids are just great, funny, candid, and very perceptive. I thoroughly enjoy my time with them. I'd love to do evening/weekend babysitting, preferably close to the Queen Anne area, and make connections with Seattle families. References available upon request.
