I have had a lot of experience working with kids of all ages. My first real job dealing with children was working at my church's nursery as an assistant. Here we took care and played with kids between ages 3 months and 5 years. I thoroughly enjoyed this and it helped get my foot in the door with working with kids. After this I continued to babysit for different families, working with kids between ages 6 and 12. In the spring of 2011 I worked in the nursery at Lifestyle Family Fitness and dealt with ages 3 months to 13 years of age. This was a challenge for me because of the vast age difference but it was a learning experience and my patience with kids grew immensely. I was a nanny over this past summer for a 7-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy. I was their caregiver Monday-Friday from 9-6 for 7 weeks of the summer. It was one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever had. It helped me to learn a lot about myself and the kids. I truly enjoy working with kids because each one is unique in their own way. They are bright individuals who can teach me a lot while I am teaching them as well. I have almost 7 years of experience with babysitting, nannying, and care-giving and can only hope to continue in the field. I am currently a psychology major at USF and a senior, studying to be a counselor. I am willing to do whatever it takes to pursue a career in counseling whether it is working with children or families. I find this area of study to be very rewarding and am excited for what the future has in store for me.
