My first experience with children was in high school. I took two years of child development courses, as well as family planning, and worked in my high school day care. I have also worked in four different day care facilities, including a church nursery in which I taught Bible stories to the youth of varying ages. I was an assistant and lead teacher for children from the ages of 6 weeks to grade school. I absolutely love children and being a single mother of an amazing little boy, I have had my own personal experience as well. I have learned over the years that every parent has their own wants and needs for their children. Teaching each child with their individual needs in mind is the best way. Children just want to have fun and they should. If they happen to learn along the way, it's simply an added bonus. Children will learn, it may not be at the pace that is "typical" but you should never underestimate your child, whether they are developing slower or faster than others. On top of that, I understand how important it is to find someone whom you trust with your children. Having a child myself, I understand what it is like to leave home and have someone else take care of your little one. I am lucky enough to have my mother be that person for me, but if I could give that peace of mind to other parents, I am a happy camper.
