Growing up as the oldest child, I was the live-in babysitter for my parents. I also grew up with cousins and babysitting for neighbors, etc. I have a 3-year-old nephew I've watched regularly as well. Aside from caring for family and friends, I have served in my church childcare program(s) for the past four to five years as well.
At my church in Buffalo, NY, I assisted weekly in the 6-12 month age room for about one year. Now, living in Pittsburgh for the past 3 years, I have served with infants through 2-year-old children on a rotating basis (once or twice a month). Both church positions required appropriate clearances to work with children. I have also worked with older children. I worked as a residential dean for two summers at a residential summer camp. One summer, I worked with fourth through sixth graders and the other, with high school aged students (summers 2002 and 2003). Additionally, I've led a church youth group of ninth grade girls for one academic school year (2006-2007 school year).
Additionally, I am a mom to a 1-year-old little girl. I am hoping to be able to have my daughter with me while I care for other children.
Prior to becoming a stay at home mom, I worked in the field of student affairs at several colleges.
