I have spent the last 8 years working with children from birth to 14 years old. I started out as a nanny as a teenager and the passion for working with children grew inside me. When I graduated high school I went and got my A.A. degree in early childhood education and then on to my B.A. I spent the last 7 years working in an in-home family childcare and was responsible for up to 14 children at a time, while working with my supervisor. I have also worked at a respite care facility for children in crisis.
I have a desire to be with young children and fully believe that the first five years are the most important when it comes to development. I also believe that children learn through play, and what is developmentally appropriate for their age. I like to encourage children to do what they are feeling and that freedom for exploration of things is most important.
My job duties include planning activities, music, singing, dance, outside play, art, science and math, language, reading and writing exploration. Cooking and cleaning as well as laundry, diapering and potty training are also my duties.
My desire in this profession is a strong one and I am hoping to find a family to connect with and to grow with. I am very outgoing and eccentric and have a very positive and upbeat attitude. I love to watch children grow and to be a part of that process and to see the seeds that have been planted. I am great at multitasking and organizing and am very crafty and just fun to be around. I love singing and dancing and of course finger painting, sidewalk chalking and blowing bubbles.
