Hello, my name is Amber. I am 29 years old and have 16 years of childcare experience. I grew up in Scottsdale and graduated from Horizon High School in 2001 on the Principal's list for straight A's and perfect attendance. After graduation, I joined my mom running our in home daycare where I gained experience with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. My duties included changing diapers, making bottles/food for children, potty training and planning engaging daily activities for the older kids. I became a nanny in 2002 after our family had to downsize and give up the house. I spent the greatest 8 months with an adorable set of 8-month-old twin girls before I was let go due to a family illness. In July of 2003, I started at a private Christian preschool in central Phoenix as a teacher's aide. Within 9 months I was promoted to a lead teacher and gained experience working with multiple children of the same age group. I was the "flip flop" teacher, meaning that I went back and forth every year between 3's and the pre-k class. As a teacher my duties included making weekly and monthly lesson plans that were age appropriate but still challenging, reading books, exploring science and the world with hands on activities, introducing letters, numbers, shapes and colors, and preparing children to make the move to the next level of education. While at the preschool I was also the aftercare teacher at the elementary school helping school age children with homework and inventing activities to keep the kids occupied and out of trouble. I left the preschool in march of 2010 due to multiple pay cuts but left on good terms with the director and staff. I went back to nannying and spent 6 months with an awesome family with a 6-month-old boy and a 3-year-old girl. I was let go from that position because the family was making a move across the country for work. I am still in contact with the family and still sit for them occasionally since they have returned to AZ. While they were gone, I was hired on with another family in PV for a 3-year-old boy and his 14-year-old half sister. My employment with this family was not just as a nanny but as a household manager as well. I was responsible for dropping off and picking up from school, making meals, helping with homework, being involved in school activities, running errands (i.e.: grocery shopping, dry cleaners, mechanic, bank). I am CPR and First Aid certified, have a spotless background and driving record and have multiple references.
