I interned with mentally disabled teens ages from 15-21 for about two years. I have lots of experience with child care, one being my four little brothers, full time in the summer and after school for all four years of high school. Most recently, I have been a nanny for four beautiful children, ages 1, 3, 5, and 7. I've held this position since 2008, but because of their father's departure to Iraq and my inability to provide live in care, they have hired an Au pair. Providing the very best care to children is my passion, and I couldn't imagine doing anything else. I am very happy and laid back. Those are the best two terms to describe me! I am patient and never down. I encourage alternative activities to the TV; this way it is more fun for everyone. I love taking kids on outings; I feel it is so important for kids to explore and learn, and once in a while, it is so nice break up the day and do something different. I have a great sense of humor and love to make kids laugh. I love to teach kids in a manner in which they feel like an equal. I encourage a child explaining themselves and feel as though they are teaching as well. I am more and more amazed at how observant and smart all kids are. My child care style could be described as nurturing. However, my child care style depends on the parents' wants and needs.
