Hello! My name is Alyssa and I am turning 21 years old in August. I just finished my junior year of college at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania, and I am looking for a job for the summer. Technically though, caring for children is not a job for me. I truly love to be around children, so caring for them is considered part of my free time. I am fun, caring, nice, understanding, patient, responsible, and energetic, which makes me a perfect match for kids.
I have been a babysitter and mother's helper for five years. The family that I mainly worked with has two children. The first child is an 11-year-old boy. The second is a 9-year-old girl, who has special needs. I worked extremely well with both of them, and this shows that I am able to work with different children. The only reason I do not work for that family anymore is because they moved.
I love to help people. Since I have been very young, I have had many sick relatives, and I helped my mother care for them. Through that experience growing up, and babysitting, it led me to choose my major and study Counseling and Human Services at my college. I have now completed three years at the University of Scranton and I have already learned a lot about how to further my knowledge and understanding of how to care for others.
I am very attentive to children and the needs they may have. As I already said, I am fun and energetic, which allows the kids I am watching to enjoy their time. Yet, I am patient and understanding, which allows children to trust me. I am also a very kind person, which also lets the children trust me even more. I like to have set guidelines with kids, but yet I am fun. I love to stay busy, so when I am with kids, I like to have them busy too, whether it is playing outside, reading, doing arts and crafts, and going for a walk, playing board games, etc. I value family and friendship greatly, and that is what I immediately offer the families that I work with.
Thank you for your time in reading my profile description! It can be hard to figure out what to write in such a short space, so if there is anything else that you would like to know, please don't hesitate to send me a message through Care.com. (Also, I do have my background checks done and I have references, so if you would like to see them, please message me and I can send you a copy of them.) Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you, and hopefully, get to work with your family!
