I have spent the last five years volunteering year round in public schools throughout western Indiana. I primarily worked with children in grades 2-5 and often in one-on-one settings to ensure the child received specialized care and attention. Most of the schools I worked in served youth who lived in poverty, so I am established at working with children who are far behind their grade levels. I also babysat for various community members while in college (2007-2011). I am currently living in Chicago as a summer fellow with a nonprofit organization and will be participating in the Academy of Urban School Leadership--a five year teaching program in Chicago public schools--in July 2013.
