For the past four years, I have worked as a part-time nanny while attending college at UW-Madison, studying zoology and psychology. During that time I had the chance to work with a handful of wonderful families and some great kids, and learned a lot about how to be adaptable in providing the best care possible. In general, I try my best to support parents in maintaining their routines and communicating their values in order to provide a consistent environment for their children. I think it's so important to be patient and caring, especially in the sense of providing praise and encouragement. In this way, I work toward building a child's confidence and sense of self-worth. As much as possible I try to marry play with education and create "teachable moments". I'm always happy to encourage a child's imagination by playing make-believe games and coming up with art projects. Especially with it being summertime, I love to be able to get outside, to run and play in the sunshine, and visit the park or perhaps go on other adventures (like going to the zoo, pool, library, children's museum and so on).
