Hello! My name is Alex, and I love working with children. I have five years of professional experience in a school/daycare setting, and several more years of experience as a babysitter. I graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, in 2009.
Through my undergraduate experience, I worked at Idylwild Elementary School, in Gainesville, FL, as an after school care teacher. I did arts and crafts projects and supervised groups of up to 20 children in various activities, from creating edible art to playing "amoeba tag". After graduating, I worked full time at Baby Gator Child Development and Research Center, directly supervising 4 infants (6 weeks to 15 months old) and creating developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities. Most recently, I worked for the Early Learning Coalition of Alachua, where I evaluated day cares in the Gainesville area and learned what makes a good caregiver different from a great caregiver. I left this position after the birth of my son, in February of 2011. I hope to find a family who will let me bring my son while I help their children learn and grow.
I have experience working with children of all ages, from newborns to teens, and there is nothing I enjoy more than helping children reach their full potential. I love finding engaging activities that peak a child's interest, and caring for children in various settings. There is no job that is more rewarding than child care!
