I am a freshman nursing student at Indiana Wesleyan University, hoping to go into Pediatrics or Neonatal nursing and offer care taking abilities to children who need it. I have two younger brothers who I have been babysitting without pay for close to 10 years. I have various experiences helping mothers out with their children on spontaneous occasions, usually friends of my parents. I have a passion for kids and I see watching over them as a joy rather than work. I have been a Vacation Bible School leader at my church for about 6 years, since middle school. The program is for toddlers through 5th grade. I was generally in charge of a group of 2nd or 3rd graders. My junior year, I babysat for two families, each with two children, ages 1, 2, 3 and 7. I am comfortable with all ages, especially infants. I have two cousins who are one and 2 years old who I cannot get enough of! When I come home from college, I try and babysit for them as much as I can. At college, I volunteer at the nursery at the campus church every Wednesday night and it is a highlight. Above all, I want kids not to see me as just the babysitter, but to have an enjoyable time and look forward to seeing me.
