I am the oldest brother of 3 siblings and I am the eldest cousin. Even though I did not ask for it, I have always been around children and because I am the oldest, my family has had no reservations in asking me to babysit.
My first experiences in child care-giving inevitably began with my brother and sister. I am older by about 12 years and I know how to care for newborns and up. I learned to change diapers, warm milk, burp, bathe and etc. While I do have experience in caring for babies, I excel with older children, specifically with children 4+.
In the past four years, I have worked in childcare for two summers with kids ranging from 5 to 12-years-old. I worked at a club and spa at a kids gym where I had to come up with daily activities for the children and entertain multiple personalities. I played with the kids in the jungle gym, built cities with lego's, and I mastered hide-and-seek. I also helped with a few birthdays, where I not only tended to the children, but the parents as well.
There were usually 3 caregivers at a time with 5-13 kids to each worker. I loved playing and caring for the kids and the kids took a great liking to me as well.
Recently, I have cared for the kids of a family friend. The boy is 1 and the girl is 2. I have cooked for them, taken them to parks, children's garden and even created a backyard water land!
Child care definitely is a serious position, but having fun is what I do best.
