I have over 15 years of experience taking care of children, ages 6 weeks to school-aged children. I have worked for three local day care centers and have worked for six or more families, part time or full-time. I started doing child care as a teenager. I loved it so much that I have continued doing child care as an adult. I love to take walks, play outside, read books, do art projects, do cooking activities, play board games, and I have a lot of fun being with and playing with children. I believe in redirecting unacceptable behavior with a stern voice not a loud voice and explaining what behavior is not acceptable for the child. A timeout for child and adult is also a positive discipline method, as well as taking away things and activities is a good way to discipline a child while teaching them the proper behavior that is desired. I also believe that the caregiver should be disciplining the child the same way the parent does or as the parent has requested.
