I have always had a true love for caring for children. Perhaps it's because I'd like to have a big family myself one day! I started baby-sitting when I was 12 years old in my hometown of Saint Helena, CA. I still have relationships with many of the children for whom I used to sit.
In the Summer of 2003, I worked at the Montessori Family Center in St. Helena, as a teacher's assistant. In this position, I worked alongside the teachers at the preschool, assisting them in lessons, games, and child care. That summer, I split my time between the toddler house and the preschool. I went to college at Vanderbilt University, where I studied a major called human and organizational development. The first two years were concentrated in human growth and development, both physically and mentally. These were my favorite years of study because I learned so much about the factors that affect us as we grow up. We studied philosophers such a Freud, Aristotle, and Rousseau and compared their theories on human development. It was a fascinating and informative part of my collegiate studies. The reason I love baby-sitting and being a nanny is because I wholeheartedly love spending time with children. Kids are so full of energy, imagination, and creativity and I love being an influential part of all of it. I am not the type of caregiver who plops a child down in front of a TV and cooks them a TV dinner. I prefer to keep the kids active and stimulated. I also love cooking healthy meals for children - especially if it is with their help! I love spending time with children, and hope that you will contact me to spend some time with yours!
