My passion for working with children began as a preteen, with baby-sitting. Throughout the next 18 years, I gained experience and joy, working as a baby sitter, an after-school care provider for the YMCA, a full-time nanny, as well as in many volunteer settings. I am currently employed as a part-time nanny for a 2-month-old, 16-month-old, as well as a 2- and 4-year-old. I am also a kindergarten preparedness tutor. Prior to that, I was a preschool teacher in a large, home-based day care. We used literature, art, and play to teach. I bond easily with children and love to share in their imagination and play. I get such enjoyment watching them grow. I love their wonder and curiosity, and the beams of self accomplishment when they learn something new or master a new skill. I love storytelling and, with a background in theater and help from a few puppet friends, I can truly make the book come alive. I have my own travel collection of favorites, as well as activities and craft materials. I do tea parties and treasure hunts. I love to get children involved in creating their own fun and healthy snacks. With a point of a magic finger, I can become a robot, dinosaur, or mouse. I love to explore with trips to the park, the beach, or museums.

I learned infant and child CPR and First Aid at an early age from my mother, an instructor. Since then, I have continued with classes. Most recently in April of 2008 when I also took the CA Child Care Safety course, I was also fingerprinted at that time.
