Wendy Z. - Salt Lake City Nanny

Profile of Wendy Z.

Full-Time, 5 Years of Experience

I became an aunt at the age of nine and now with 36 nieces and nephews, childcare has always been a big part of my life. I have been employed in jobs working with children including working in the after school program at an elementary school and being a summertime day camp counselor for children. However, the greatest nanny experience was when my sister passed away unexpectedly, leaving my brother-in-law with their four children, ages 1, 3, 5, and 7. For the first year after her death, I lived 10 minutes from them and was there from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day, filling all the responsibilities of a mother, as well as helping the children adjust to life without Mom. This included maintaining the home, doing laundry, cooking all meals, driving to school, sports, and other activities, helping with homework, playing with them, doing crafts, etc. I learned patience, organization, housekeeping, nurturing, children's routines, and so much more. I also lived with them the summer before that when the 4th baby was born and learned the proper handling and care of a newborn. I have since stayed with a few of my other sisters for a week or two, to help them after they have had a new baby.
Related Hobbies and Interests
I enjoy dancing, cooking, photography, sports, and the outdoors. I am currently a high school religion teacher in Idaho, but will be moving to Utah end of November. My bachelor's Degree was a mix of Health Science, Home and Family Living, and Spanish.
