I have extensive baby-sitting experience, starting when I was 13, working with children between the ages of 3 and 12. I am accustomed to watching more than one child at a time. I also volunteered at the Seattle Children Theater as a counselor assistant. I helped keep children, ages 4 to 7, engaged in a variety of make-believe games and made sure they didn't get in any fights or wander off. I also encouraged them to move outside their comfort zone and participate in games they didn't necessarily want to. I have a broad background in theater as an actor, stage manager, and director over the past five years. This work has demanded time-sensitive creativity and collaboration with a diverse group of coworkers. I worked last summer as a volunteer at the Swedish Hospital Cancer Education Center. My responsibilities included working with the public, assisting with wig fittings, fielding questions, and listening when a patient needed someone to talk to. I also did research in the planning stages for the Swedish Woman's Cancer Center. In each of these positions, I have received positive feedback for being outgoing, creative, and energetic.
I enjoy working with children because I like seeing the joy children get from being creative and it's impact on they view the world. I am comfortable taking care of kids ages 4 and up.
