I started baby-sitting when I was 12 or 13, pretty much as soon as I was old enough to be trusted to be left alone with someone else's child. Since then, working with kids has become my favorite thing to do: it has even become my career path! I've spent every summer since I was 14 working at a day camp. I've worked at preschools, taught Sunday school and baby-sat for countless families. When I started college I was pre-law, but it didn't take very long for me to realize that I was only fooling myself if I thought pursuing any career other than teaching would bring me the happiness and career fulfillment I want, so I changed my major to applied developmental psychology, in Pitt's School of Education, and I will be getting my Master of Arts in Teaching so I can teach elementary school. For my classes, I have done field experiences working in elementary and preschools, including a DART classroom, which integrates typically-developing preschool children with children with special needs. I am also about to begin an internship at the Wesley Highland School, which is for children with behavioral disabilities.
