With cuts in hours at work and the rising expenses of, well, everything these days, I'm looking to bring in extra income for my husband and me. When thinking of how to do so and still enjoy the work, I thought back to what I used to do while in high school and college. I loved baby-sitting so much, playing with children and helping them learn and grow. I'm definitely a "kid person."

I baby-sat a lot in high school and had a solid network of regulars. Families had me booked months in advance. Sitting was an every-weekend thing for me and I enjoyed it very much. I also worked in my church nursery for many years, where I took care of children ranging from infants to 10 years. In 2003, I took and passed the Red Cross baby-sitting course, where I became a certified baby-sitter. That course taught me how to better relate with children of all ages as well as life safety skills, such as CPR and the Heimlich maneuver.

Also, I recently completed and passed the First Aid and CPR certification in a college course last summer. It was a six-week summer course where we met every day of the week, and spent two weeks specifically on toddler and infant care in an array of emergencies.

Since joining Care. com about four and five months ago, I have been able to connect with a few families in my area and gained even more experience with children. In the past few months, I have been able to spend time with infants, toddlers and 6- to 9- year-olds. I can get you up to date references from these families if you'd like. I also have prepared a baby-sitting resume, complete with references (mostly from my home area in Michigan) and a summary of my experiences, that I can share with you.

I am also an excellent chef. I have a great passion for cooking and baking. Trying a new recipe is always a fun adventure for me. I've never burned a meal in my life and I'm known by family and friends for being able to just throw ingredients in a pot and have it come out delicious! I love to cook healthy as well as keep an active lifestyle. Aerobics, bike rides, and casual walks are my favorite ways to exercise.

At this point in my life, I want to get back into the child care field. I am very comfortable around kids, having worked with them so much throughout my teen years. I am prepared to commit to being the best baby sitter your family has ever had!

I enjoy cooking, baking, casual biking, singing, acting, tea, scrapbooking, watching RedBox movies, aerobics in my living room, staying connected with my BlackBerry, all-natural lifestyle changes, a good book, and a bottle of wine.
