I have done numerous baby-sitting jobs from watching my four younger siblings to church friends to community friends and neighbors since I was 13 years old. Last year, was the first that I had done child care as a job rather than just occasional baby-sitting. I loved it!! In early spring of 2005, I spent six weeks working with a family who had just had twins and had four older children. I loved that experience too! From May, 2007 to March, 2008, I worked as a personal care assistant for a 4-year-old girl with a seizure disorder. I helped in the home when the mom was with the girl, or took care of the girl while the mom ran errands or worked around the home, and took the girl to preschool. At school, I helped her interact with the other children, interact in the classroom, do her special education activities, made sure she was safe, etc. I thoroughly enjoyed the job! I only quit because my family moved from Minnesota to California.
I plan to attend college this fall starting the road to becoming a teacher. I enjoy working with children and know that this is one way to be a positive influence in their lives. I have had numerous background checks done over the past several years and have always been hired by the agencies that did them, such as The Crabtree Senior Home, Crystal Care (the agency which I worked as a personal care assistant), and Home Instead Senior Care. I am currently employed, very part-time, by Home Instead Senior Care.
