Malissa D. - Hector Babysitter

Profile of Malissa D.

Part-Time, 3 Years of Experience

For three years, I was the primary caregiver for my nephew when he was a toddler. Caring for him and watching him improve from that care motivated me to get my degree in early childhood development. I am currently a student at UACCM in Morrilton and will graduate with an associate degree in early childhood development in May 2010. I already have a certificate of proficiency and technical certification in early childhood development. I can also provide a copy of my Arkansas state background check that I have to maintain for school. Helping children develop and learn is my passion. My nature with children is truly great, and my philosophy is that a child is never too young to start exploring the world around them. A nature walk or a trip to the zoo can be an awarding and fun experience. Hands-on experiments and using your senses are some of my favorite tools. Children also need time to just be children. I can provide that; whether it's making a fort in the living room or tossing a ball in the backyard. Balance is always best, and I do believe in behavior guidance when necessary but not without love and nurturing in equal parts.
Related Hobbies and Interests
I have two large dogs. I enjoy camping, barbecuing, and swimming in the summer. I like making homemade stuff and other crafts. I am a Razorback fan and enjoy watching their games. I also have a passion for books and enjoy reading them.
