My younger sister and I are 11 years apart so I began to care for her at a very young age (I was 12 and she was 9 months). After school I watched her on the main level of our house while my grandmother pursued her craft business and my mother went to work. When my sister was a little over 1 year I began watching her completely independently for 3 to 4 hours at a time, gradually increasing. By the time I was 13 I was watching her for 7 to 8 hours at a time, occasionally longer when the circumstances called for it.
For the last year and a half I have watched my fiance's children (boy, 10 girl, 11 ). During the school year I dropped them off and picked them up at the bus stop, cooked, cleaned, kept house while they were at school, made after-school snacks, helped with homework and finally made dinner every night. They are now with my fiance's ex out of state. I am very much looking forward to obtaining a full-time or part-time position taking care of children. I am currently enrolled in Germanna Community College; my degree will be in either childhood development or psychology, both of which I will be working closely with younger children. Children are the essence of life, so full of it, bright unmolded minds. My career goal (whichever career I choose) is to help mold young minds to keep youth and innocence as a priority, instead of everything youngsters are taught today by the media and television and other means. I love to cook, crochet, paint, cross stitch, embroider, draw, quilt, etc. In short pretty much anything crafty, but most of all spend time with my family.
