Hi! My name is Aubrey and I just recently graduated from Allegheny College in May with a degree in Political Science and English. I graduated with honors, and am very mature, patient, caring, and dependable. That said, after being around kids for more or less my whole life, I know that child care is not suited for someone who is merely mature and dependable- you have to know how to have fun with kids, too! I have a ton of experience as a nanny and can provide excellent and numerous references for you (as well as a copy of my background check, if you would so like). A little bit about myself and my experience. I have 15 aunts and uncles, so I've been watching my multitude of younger cousins since I was 12, as well as helping my mom raise my younger brother and sister. I also babysit for various families in my neighborhood. During my years at Allegheny, I volunteered at a local elementary school for America Reads- aiding the kindergarten through fifth grade classrooms. I essentially did everything that the teachers did not have time to do- from assisting with arts and crafts, helping the students with their math skills, and working one-on-one with the children to develop their reading comprehension. Many times I was also given the "high energy" students to work and play with, so running around outside and playing are almost second nature to me now.
My summer two years ago was devoted to an amazing 2-year-old boy. I frequently took him to the park and playground and even helped potty train him. Because of my experience with children, I am well versed in the art of changing diapers and baby talk, and have grown to appreciate the intricacies of the Wiggles, SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer. I love being a "hands on" nanny... making crafts, cooking with your children, going to museums, etc.
