Children, young people, seniors, and their care have been a part of my life in a volunteer and professional way for 29 years. As a certified nurse assistant I began caring for the daily needs of seniors in 1981. From 1983 to 1994, my focus was moved to babies and then school-aged children as I moved from child care into a position of private school administration. In addition I was a camp counselor and counselor supervisor of the children's section of summer family camps until 1994. My work always included some direct care. Much of this was voluntary and for a large church, but at least 14 years included some paid experience. As a home-schooling mom I now know how to be an inspiring (I trust/hope) leader and caregiver to teens, my own college-aged sons and their friends as well. Tutoring a young college student this last winter was another fun experience. Caring for, inspiring, encouraging, and helping others is much of my life experience and I love it.
