Candace R. - Cincinnati Nanny
Profile of Candace R.
Full-Time, 7 Years of Experience
I have over five years paid experience in childcare. I've been baby-sitting for multiple families since I was 12 years old. When I was 16, I started a nanny job. The family had two little girls, they were 6 weeks and 3 years old when I started. I nanny for that family for a little over two years until I moved away for school. I still babysit for them when I'm back in town.I have experience watching up to five children at one time (in a home setting).
I also worked for some time at a daycare center. I spent majority of my time in the infant and 4-year-old room. When I was in the infant room I would be responsible for up to four infants at a time. Some of my responsibilities included changing diapers, bottle/rice cereal feeding, burping, putting down for naps, and providing the attention and care each individual infant needed. I also spent some time as a teacher in the 4-year-old room. The ratio for 4-year-old to teacher was 12 children; so at times I was responsible for up to 12 kids.
In addition to working at the daycare center, I also have experience watching multiple infants in a home setting. I have triplet and twin cousins who I've watched at the same time.
I'm currently a part-time nanny in Mason where I watch three children- ages 6, 4, and 3. The 3-year-old is Type I Diabetic, so requires some special care. I also recently started working for a family on the weekends in Anderson. They have two little girls- ages 6 and 3. Their 6-year-old is also Type I Diabetic.
In addition to being a nanny/sitter, I'm a full time student at Cincinnati State University, majoring in Nursing. My goal is to be a labor and delivery nurse as I love newborns/infants. I have taken multiple college (as well as high school) courses on infant/child development and care (Infant Development, Language Development, Child Development, Human Development, etc.)
I have experience with children of all ages, as well as children with special needs (Diabetes, ADHD, ADD, Autism, Asperger's, etc.) I'm patient and kind. I always do my best to provide the unique care each child needs. All children are different and deserve special care and attention from their caregiver. Infants and toddlers are my favorite age to watch because they learn and grow so fast and it's amazing to watch. I also feel that newborn to 4-year-old range is my strongest area of work. That's not to say I don't love other ages as well I love caring for and watching children of all ages. I love watching children as my job; it's more than work to me, it's a hobby.
