I have been assisting my grandmother with her day care since I was 13 years old. She has been an employee with a day nursery for more than 20 years so I have learned a lot from her. I have provided care for children of all different ages and backgrounds, with the youngest child being only 3 months, so I am very comfortable around newborns and infants. Generally, the children in my care are newborns to 6 years old, although I also have experience with school-age children, having worked at the park district as a junior counselor as a teenager. I have always loved children, even though I don't have any of my own, I still believe in treating them as my own. I believe in treating them the way we want to be treated and tending to their overall needs as I would my own. While I treat them all the same and fairly, I still respect each child's own individuality and believe they should be able to express that in their own way. Children love and need a welcoming, understanding, loving environment, and room to grow, as well as a place to call their own even if they are in someone else's care. I am very passionate about what I do and though I may be providing care for these children, I am also able to learn something from them as well. At the end of the day, the most important the to me is not only will these children learn something new everyday, but the best part is knowing that I have made someone's child happy and that have given them a sense of belonging and importance while in my care.
