My name is Tyra, and I am providing home child care services form my home. I have been working with children for about eight years now. I worked in Louisiana child care centers for three years while attending college for a degree in elementary education. After college, I taught first grade in Hawaii for two years. For the past four years, I have worked in child care centers and been a stay-at-home mom in upstate New York. While working in the centers, I gained experience with all the ages from 6 weeks to 6 years. I have always enjoyed working with kids and watching them learn. Once my children are in grade school, I intend to get back to teaching once again. For now, I would like to spend with them as much quality time as I can, giving them the attention they need to thrive, and provide the same for other children. I don't believe in just "sitting" services. I believe that true child care involves education through hands-on and real life experiences, as well as supervision while the parent is away. I believe that providing those services in smaller ratios (6:1) allows for more individualized attention.
