Hi, my name is Janelle. I am a child life specialist at Nationwide Children's Hospital working in the Surgery Unit. I work with children (newborn-21 years) and families providing psychosocial support, promoting developmental growth, while assessing coping to aide in decreasing anxieties and fears associated with the hospital environment. My experience includes working with children ages newborns to adolescents. I attended The Ohio State University earning a bachelor's degree (2006) in Early Childhood Development where I worked primarily in an infant-toddler classroom for two years at The Ohio State Childcare Center. Also, I worked as an Assistant Teacher in an infant-toddler classroom at Riverside's Child Care center for one year before moving to Manhattan to attend graduate school for Child Life at Bank Street College of Education. I interned as a child life specialist at The Children's Hospital at Montefiore in Bronx, NY where I worked with a wide range of children (typically developing to children with special health care needs) and families in an acute hospital care setting. As a graduate student I provided child care for a 2 1/2-year-old girl for two years. I graduated with a Master's of Science in Child Life in 2009. I worked at Bright Horizon's Riverside Child Care Center from 3/06-6/07. I was the Assistant Teacher in infant-toddler classroom for one year. I enjoy working with children of all ages and watching children's progress through development. Play is one of the most important components of childhood!

I enjoy music, dance and "the arts". I danced competitively from age 5 until 18. I currently take dance classes weekly. I'm a huge college basketball and football, Buckeye Fan!
