Leah P. - Baltimore Nanny

Profile of Leah P.

Full-Time, 10 + Years of Experience

I am looking for the opportunity to care for young children by effectively creating a nurturing, entertaining and educationally stimulating environment.

My child care career outside of my childhood home began at my synagogue. I helped conduct the children's High Holiday services, Discovery Group (the pre-k Hebrew School class) and aided in the Kindergarten Hebrew School class. I was employed at the JCC Children's Center in Newark, DE as a Teacher's Aide from November, 2000 to September, 2001. At the JCC, I worked with all ages of children (six weeks to five years) on a regular basis.

When I moved to Philadelphia, I worked for the Penn Children Center (full-time and part-time) on and off from June, 2002 to December, 2006. While I was at PCC, I primarily worked with children ages 3 to 5. My responsibilities included but were not limited to: planning lessons to develop a creative and educationally stimulating environment for the children in accordance with NAEYC standards, actively tracking the advancements and changing needs of each individual child, implementing mediation procedures to promote non-violent conflict resolution between children and maintaining a safe and sanitary facility at all times.

In the years after the Penn Children's Center I continuously worked for three families on an as-needed basis as well as a fill in nanny/babysitter for another 10 families that I had been referred to. I am currently completing a position as an after-school nanny for a family that I love very dearly. Although my love for this family and their little girl is overwhelming, their need for my services has come to an end as my life is taking me to a new city.

I have found that working with children is the most rewarding job in the world and I look forward to contributing my services to another family.
Related Hobbies and Interests
I enjoy outdoor activities, arts and crafts, indoor imaginative games, reading books, and all sorts of baking "adventures." Any activities (indoor and outdoor) that draw on a child's interests and strengths are the best.
