Profile of Kayla N.

Part-Time, 9 Years of Experience

I am a nursing student at Mercer University and will graduate in May of 2010 with my BSN! YAY! I have worked very hard throughout my college career and have maintained a 3.9 GPA and am hoping to work in pediatrics either in the ER, NICU or Peds ICU. I am currently a nanny for a family two to three days a week for 12-18 hours and have been working for the same family since October 2007. They have one little boy, age 3 1/2, and it has been such a joy to watch him grow up! Some other families I worked for in the past have children ages 5 weeks to 12 years old.

I have also spent the past two summers living and working in an orphanage in Haiti. This past summer I spent three months helping the full-time nurse caring for people in the community and also taking care of the many sick and malnourished babies who come to the orphanage. Babies range in age from several hours old when they are admitted, to 7 years old. I have lots of experience with newborns and very sick children at night, since I was responsible for at least one baby full time, including the dreaded night duty. Yup, not much sleep this summer! I actually enjoyed having infants at night, and miss all of my babies a great deal.

Also, I have a background check run every year so that I can work in the hospital setting, so I would prefer to use that one instead of paying to have another one done. They are always blank anyways!
Related Hobbies and Interests
Over 300 hours in high school dedicated to volunteering at a local DFACS day care working with developmentally delayed children. I love mission work and would love to work in Haiti for at least six months once I get experience as a nurse!
