Doris L. - Alabaster Nanny

Profile of Doris L.

Part-Time, 7 Years of Experience

I am a student in the process of getting my social work degree. I plan to go on to achieve a master's so that I can become an adoption agent. I live in Alabaster with my mother. I worked for a summer at a day care before I found my first Nanny job. I had just turned 19 and ran into a loving family needing extra help with their four children, three boys and one girl. I kept all four until they started school, then two were at home, two in school. I would often take the two youngest and pick up the older two in a carpool. I also would take them all to different after school activities if need be, like ballet, soccer, basketball, tutoring, etc. They ranged from 16 months to 6 years when I started and I have been with them for five years, so I have much experience with every age, 11 and under! I consider them my own family now. Mom even calls me "her right hand"! In between that job, I also kept a newborn baby boy, about 9 weeks old, for a different family until he was 11 months old. I also come from a huge family of kids, having three nephews of my own. With my current Nanny position, I am saddened that all four children are now old enough to be in school all day, five days a week, so I am desperately seeking a day job. The current semester is coming to an end and I would love to have a work schedule planned out first so that I may schedule my classes accordingly. I plan to go to classes only in the later part of the afternoon or night, so that I can work during the day.
Related Hobbies and Interests
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, social/volunteer work, pets, baby-sitting, and cooking.
