5 Reasons to Become a Care.com Premium Provider

Ready to take your job search to the next level? Invest in a premium provider membership.

premium provider

As a basic provider, you know there are plenty of tools available to personalize your Care.com experience. You can tell us your schedule and when you're available for work. You can add references and ask for reviews. You can receive job alerts via text. But maybe you've clicked around on the site and noticed your profile doesn't have all the cool features that other profiles do.

Ever thought about upgrading or just wondered if it's worth it? Here are five benefits of taking the plunge and becoming a premium provider. If you're interested in upgrading, click here.

  1. Free Background Check
Having a background check on file is an essential step to proving you are a reliable candidate for the job. With the premium provider membership, don't worry about that $8 fee to get one. A background check through the National Criminal Database and Sex Offender Registry is automatically included with the purchase of your upgraded account.

  2. Advanced Notice of Jobs
With the basic membership, you can opt for a daily email about new job listings in your area. With our premium option, you'll receive this email a few hours before the basic providers servicing your region. You even get notification emails when families in your area create a new account. With access to this information, you get priority in reaching out to potential families and beginning communication.

  3. Increased Visibility
When a family searches for a caregiver in their area, a list of potential candidates comes up that matches the request. With a premium provider membership, you come up as one of the top results! Your profile snippet displays a gold outline and is marked as a "featured" caregiver. Families will see your listing first, and notice the extra step you took to gain this special status.

  4. Opportunity for Communication
While looking for a job opportunity as a basic provider, you can see families that have created profiles but haven't posted a job. As a premium provider, you can access the message function on your Care.com account and actually talk to these prospective families. Premium providers can also view a list of families that have recently viewed their profile (through the "My Stats" section on your home screen). These features allow you to reach out and introduce yourself to a family, knowing they may be looking for care soon.

  5. Multiple Payment Options
After deciding to become a Premium Provider, you'll be given three choices for how long you'd like to use the service. You can pay monthly, every three months or every six months. The longer you sign up for, the lower the average monthly membership cost. For example, if you choose the six month payment plan, you'll immediately pay for six months of membership at one time, but that amount would be less than paying on a month-by-month basis.

All of these perks will help boost your membership experience. But don't forget the Care.com necessities! Appropriate profile pictures, accurate availability and a detailed bio are essential no matter which membership you choose. For more information on how to make the most of your profile and improve your response rate, check out these fourteen tips.

I my name is Joan i have payed for the premium membership, but i am not getting any of the benefits the promise like you would get to speak the the clients them self also the isn't anyway to contact care.com. also when family get in touch with you why do the say to email them with you resume but dont put a email address. does that mean care.com have that info. also when a client contact you and you reply through care.com then you dont hear from them again, whats going on do they even see your response.but the second most troubling thing for me is why dont care.com have a phone number for us to talk to i live person.and why dont the keep their word about what you get when you used a paid membership.

Hi Megan! I am a Member care representative from Care.com. As a premium member, you should be able to see the families that view you profile on your My Stats page. They are located at the very top once you click on the My Stats page. You are also able to click into their profiles, and send them a message directly if you re interested in corresponding with them.

I have applied to many jobs this past summer. I am highly qualified and yet have had very few responses. My college-age daughter has had no responses this summer. One family wrote to say that care.com held communication for over a week+ and was unable to respond in a timely manner. I have been hesitant to upgrade my membership as I fail to see the value.

Hey Linda, I'm an experienced/qualified nanny as well and what I've noticed over the years of being on care.com is that a lot of families do their nanny/sitter search for summer towards the end of winter and early spring. This gives the family the time to research qualified candidates, interview, test runs and to give them enough time to replace if said candidate doesn't work out or is unable to accept/fulfill families schedule. I've also run into the issue with families who have filled the posted position and forgot to close the job posting. Same thing with Fall positions families seem to hire/interview at the beginning and through summer for those jobs as well. I would also think of it from their stand point they could be receiving so many inquiries for the position that they where overwhelmed and could of happened to miss your response to their ad. I always try and make sure that I put something in my response that would make me stand out/remember me over the several applications they receive as well as a very thorough and detailed application that points out and compliments all my strong characteristics and experience. Just some useful tips I thought I might throw out there from one nanny to another :)!!! But back to the point, I myself thought about upgrading but there isn't enough families or responses that are willing to pay my rate or atleast minimum wage so I would pass as well unless I saw a huge jump in families joining care.com in my area.
Sorry for the long speel lol!! :P

Representative,
Again, I have tried to view the families that have viewed my profile however, nothing is showing up. The My Stats page shows up and it says that my profile has been viewed 16 times but it does not show who the families were nor does it show any type of contact information for anyone. I can guarentee that I have a premium membership, so why am I not getting the information I should be?

Hi Linda, I am a Member care representative from Care.com. I am sorry to hear that the site has not been successful for you so far. If you haven t utilized all of the features that Care.com offers, think about adding a few more! Adding a photo, running a background check, or adding references, connections and reviews will strengthen your profile, and make it more attractive to the families that are looking to hire. Always make sure that your profile is up to date and proof read, as well as the applications that you send out. Keep checking the site and actively applying for jobs. The more jobs you apply to, the more likely you are to hear back! Keep in mind that new jobs are being posted on the site every day, so there are always new opportunities to find the perfect fit. We do not interfere with messaging between our members; we are just the platform that allows you to connect with potential employers through the site, and apply to the positions that you are interested in. Best of luck with your job search!

I have to agree with Linda. I too am experiencing a lot of frusteration with lack of responses. And I apply for jobs almost daily. It is the issue of a family just not responding I believe. If we are required to respond within a certain amount of time, shouldn't the families be required to as well? Even if it's just to say that they are no longer looking, have hired someone, or are going through responses, etc, etc, etc.

I agree with Rebecca. I am a very reliable and responsible person, and I have also paid for the premium membership. I have applied to nine jobs in the past month, and no one responded back. I do not like that the families do not write back, even if it is just to say they have already hired someone, or no longer need a baby sitter, etc....

I have applied to 15 jobs the past two Weeks, and have no responses. Do I need the premium package to have the families respond?

Hi Jaisha, I am a Member care representative from Care.com. You do not need our premium membership in order to receive responses for your applications. If you want to send a follow-up message to the families you ve already applied to, you can do so by going to your My Applications page and viewing the messages for a particular job. I have been on care.com for a long time now, and I haven't gotten the premium membership because 1) it's too expensive, and 2) the "featured" providers don't always show up first when I search as a mom looking for care, so I'm hesitant to spend my money to get more jobs for my business if the featured providers aren't showing up at the top.

Hi Stephanie P.
Featured members do get listed higher in search results as a part of their membership. However there are a number of other factors that will move a profile closer to the top of the list. Profiles that are complete, that have filled out all of the categories we offer including a photo will be higher in the results. Also profiles that include references, reviews and recently updated content will be moved to the front. I hope this has made the process a bit clearer for you!
Thank You,
Member Care

Hi Amanda,
Yes a free standard background check is included in your Premium Provider membership on Care.com. The Background Check will remain on your profile for one year, regardless of whether or not you continue the Premium membership. Along with the background check, you also get listed as a premium member on the site, a great way to stand out of Seekers! Finally you get access to all of the families on Care.com, including the ones who have not posted a job yet on the site. If you are unsure of how you feel about the membership you can try it for just a month. If you find it's not for you just set the account to downgrade at the end of your billing cycle. Good luck with your search Amanda!

I realize that getting started on Care.com means that I need to read and know everything going on with the site. This is a great opportunity for all caregivers. If there is a technical program, who should I contact? I really appreciate what you are doing for the community and the health care system.
