I have had the opportunity to work with people of different ages with different types of needs. I have seen that no matter what a person's potential may be, they are still valued, and still capable of having some level of quality of life.

I would like to have meaningful work a couple of days a week while attending nursing school. I am currently in my third semester out of four. I have cared for the elderly mother of a coworker, the small children of family and friends, a couple of special needs adolescents, and various patients in the clinical care setting. I have cared for those who require grooming, toileting, sanitation, mobility, and feeding assistance. I have cared for those who have diminished physical or mental ability, and for those who are completely sound of mind.

I can help with laundry and do some light house cleaning when the client does not require direct and constant attention. (Safety and the client's needs must come first.) I can make simple meals, as long as there are directions to follow. I can help with bathing, toileting, dressing and grooming, mobility, and other potential needs. I have also administered prescribed medications and performed physical assessments. If desired, I can even plan to have a weekly outing such as going to breakfast, church, or a movie.
