Call me nuts. I enjoy making order out of chaos when it relates to the kitchen and laundry. I suppose my training came from being around Dad whenever he worked. Since I was right there, I pitched in and helped!

I grew up in a home with commercial restaurant equipment (stove top burners, griddle, and full-size meat slicer). Dad owned his own delicatessen restaurant, was a professional chef, instructed on food preparation, and provided catering (everything made from scratch). All of this overlapped into our home.

Dad was a whirlwind in the kitchen, taking everything out of the cupboards to create the perfect meals for family, friends, and guests. I don't know if I was 'trained' to enjoy this or if I was chosen because of my enjoyment, but I was always the one to clean up between courses and after everyone went home. That kitchen was spotless when I was done. I was physically exhausted, but emotionally rewarded for a job well done.

I often accompanied Dad to his catering events (both pay jobs and volunteer with non-profit holiday gatherings). We provided food setup and service (buffet or individual plate serving) and kitchen cleanup following the meal.

Another unusual task I enjoy is folding clean laundry. I understand that sorting and washing will probably come first, but the soothing, relaxing part is the folding. Again, making order out of chaos.

Other household chores (vacuuming, dusting) would be maintained, but these activities don't "feed my soul" the way kitchen and laundry do.

I also provide support services to people after surgery or illness who want (or need) assistance until they are back on their feet.

So, if you're looking for assistance before, during, or after a celebration or life-altering event, call me. For parties, I can help you with your serving needs (so you can focus your attention on your guests instead of on removing their plates). For personal care or house-sitting, I'll see to it that you and/or your belongings are treated with care and respect.
