Provide personal care services to disabled, convalescent, chronically ill or cognitively impaired persons of all ages and abilities. I'm employed by federally funded home health and hospice agencies. Usually I work under the direction of a registered nurse, or parent of minor, and interact with case managers, therapists and other medical personnel. Performing basic health-related tasks, I'm responsible for taking and recording vital signs for clients. In some settings, trained to monitor blood sugar levels, note how much/what a client eats during my shift, urine output and other important details to help ensure a comprehensive chart for each client.
I'm a companion to patients and perform a variety of domestic tasks, such as making beds, doing laundry, preparing meals, washing dishes, assist senior citizens with their mobility or frequently transfer patients in and out of bed are at risk for overexertion, musculoskeletal disorders, sprains and strains.
