My name is Maureen. I have worked as a PCA for 20 years. I received my training as a certified nursing assistant at BOCES in Westchester County, NY in 1989. I was licensed in Georgia in June of 1994. I have worked in hospitals, nursing homes, hospice care, a variety of nursing agencies involving institutional health care and home health care for individuals, and I have provided care as an independent, licensed professional. I have provided private professional care as a salaried, W2 employee and as a professional contract worker, receiving a 1099. I have provided professional PCA services for private clients, and received my remuneration from a variety of sources, depending on the client. These included: the client (private pay), the client's long-term care insurance carrier, and Georgia Medicaid's Independent Care Waiver program. Including my institutional positions, my home health work for agencies, and my home health private clients, I have provided care for hundreds of individuals, and approximately 25 private clients over my 20 year career. Most of my clients continue working with me for five to 10 years. I have worked with an amazingly broad range of clients: rich, poor and in between, young and old, and in between, clients with quadriplegia, many with paraplegia, single and double leg amputees, persons with MS, people who have spinal cord injuries, clients with muscular dystrophy, persons with developmental disabilities, persons with severe emotional disturbances, patients with cancer, patients with AIDS, and the elderly. I have worked with men, women, girls, boys, blacks, whites, people of Asian descent, and even people from my native Jamaica. I have worked eight hour shifts, provided live-in care, and provided morning and evening/night care, seven days per week for as many as five clients each day, and this is my preferred schedule.

I have a CDL and I used to drive both a regular school bus and a disability school bus. I am interested in providing both care and transportation for weekend trips for people who require care during a brief trip or vacation.
